Local Love – Ottawa’s backyard

Nothing quite compares to that fresh country air. I don’t even live right in the city and I still have days where I could use an escape. Luckily with Ottawa you can drive 30 minutes in any direction and find yourself in the middle of a forest, a flowering field, or a dock with your toes dipped in the water. With the weather getting nicer a dose of countryside is all we need to capture some amazing images! This blog post highlights the beauty that lies outside of our own backyards. All these shots were taken within a 30 minute radius on the outskirts of Ottawa.
There are so many hidden shooting spots that are great for engagement and wedding photos. An old farmhouse, mill or barn can be transformed with ease into the perfect venue. These rustic settings tend to humble us and remind us of a simpler time. It’s crazy to think we have to actively go find a private and serene setting now a days – is that…a bird chirping? Winds whistling? A Babbling brook!? All these things make for great images and capturing amazing memories.

With all that being said, I am very excited to talk about Two Mill Studios!! If you haven’t heard ~ I will be setting up shop in a joint studio between myself and Brian & Ivy Hargreaves of BH Photography in Almonte, Ontario. The studio space is on the 2nd floor of a 150 year old Heritage building in the centre of downtown Almonte. Renovations will run until the fall and we are hoping to open in October 2015! Two Mill Studios will have over 12oosq feet of shooting space filled with natural light, exposed brick and vintage elements {secretly doing the happy dance everytime I think about it}

Enjoy the images…
